burning man is the poor man’s bohemian grove?

i really think i’m on to something here.

1) both are in summer (bohemian grove in July / burning man in early September)

2) both start with “b” (think about it!)

3) both are camp-outs, in the middle of nowhere.

4) both worship a giant effigy ( Dull Care the  45-foot owl / the 40-foot-at-least Burning Man)

5) both have a ceremony where they burn stuff ( the cremation of care / see above)

6) both have a certain amount of nude hi-jinks,

7) both use a half-assed pagan exuse  (druid costumes / ‘tribal, dude!’)

and

8) both have an unparallelled level of self-congratulation among the members.

anybody that’s been to both, email me and compare.

How can they both have unparallelled levels of self-congratulation? If they both have it, then it’s parallelled.
    Just being a pedant…

  2. S. Weasel Says:

My dad went to Bohemian Grove one year, as a guest. I gather lots of dry martinis and fine cigars were involved. He’s a very old man with a bad hip, so I doubt he was offered much in the way of nude hijinks or other pagan paraphernalia. He might’ve burned stuff, though.

  3. Narcoleptic Says:

I’ve always suspected that Bohemian Grove was massively overhyped. That’s not to say that there isn’t a REAL party for the ultra-rich and powerful that’s all about neopagan sex with taut young Ganymedes; I just suspect that party is the one that we don’t know about.

I bet Mickey Hart and Phil Lesh have been to both. Double Assholes.

According to his MIXI page, he’s back in Japan after getting a work visa from a mysterious company. And apparently this mysterious company has yet to tell him what sort of work he’ll be doing.
Wonder if this means we’ll be reading his NOVA DAMAGE REPORT sometime soon.

    I feel betrayed and un-entertained(yup).

Single asian female looking for single cute white guy

Hello I am looking for a single cute white male who is smart, honest, sincere, loyal, independent, knows what he wants in life, have a good heart and great sense of humor and understanding. Someone who is clean, not lazy, knows how to cook, who likes music from alternative rock, pop, vocal trance, new age, classical, some country. I dont like rap nor heavy metal. I am NOT looking for someone who is a party animal, who drinks a lot, who smokes, nor takes drugs. I enjoy going to live concerts, shows, plays, theatre, musuems, beach, and traveling. Looking for someone with the same interests as me. Looking for someone for new friendship that will lead into something more basically a companion. If intersted send your pictures with your bio please. Also send me your sn on aim/yahoo so we can chat and get to know each other and possibly meet. By the way, I am 32 but look younger than my age. Looking for a guy ages 24 to 32.

  15. Dave Says:

Yeah where did he go? I miss him being in japan

  16. Geta Boushi Says:

Man am I late to the game or what, I just started reading his stuff after i returned from Japan, and now he isnt posting. shit…
Someone Mentioned that he got a job with a nondiscript company in Nihon, this can be a good or bad thing. Some Japanese companies will hire people without telling them exact details of their work environment but make them sign a contract before hire. Basically the person who gets hired can sometimes get fucked over.
I think it would be cool if he was doing a JET thing then bloging about that. Does anyone know if he has a bachelor’s degree? If so then that is a deffinate possibility as that is a near gaurenteed way to get a job in Japan as a foreigner.

when you surf the internet, do you ever feel you need

    A) a casino
    B) tablets for your illness
    C) software
    D) meet a woman from your area
    E) a new watch ?

Spammers should start opening up new markets. People have needs they have not taken in account yet.

When i surf the internet i want something good to eat and fast. A good snack if you may. Sometimes i want socks in my feet and sometimes a friend to listen to my jabberish stories.

  37. Robert B. Livingston Says:

The same thought occurred to me after watching this video:
    http://youtube.com/watch?v=GHFoUZEjuNM

Both groups were formed by creatives. The Bohemian Grove group was taken over.

Many people today say that Burning Man is no longer what it was.

I think ultimately, people will always be searching for ways to make sense of the world they live in. Some find meaning in hedonism and/or identifying with a group which may keep them thought or from taking personal responsibility.
