using the same method (radical kw plus rad kw equals kanji meaning) and apply that to jukugos − write down the component kanji’s keywords. this helps rmeember the meaning because jukugos are generally pretty logical. it also helps remember the pronunciation because usually even if i forget how a jukugo is pronounce, if i see the kanji in my mind i remember their onyomis and hten i can remember the jukugo.
YU with a short vowel, has ”riyu” as the keyword, but it turns out that ’riyu’ is almost always long −vowel. so i need to make a new short−vowel keyword, and then rewrite all the on−stories for subsequent yu−words to reflect that. (sigh)
a lot of textbooks and flashcards write down 2 onyomis or even 3 onyomis per kanji! but usually the kanji in question uses onyomi #1 90% of the time, and only uses onyomi #2 with one specific jukugo.
we don't play that. we'll only list the top 1 onyomi, and if a jukugo has a strange, exceptional pronunciation, we'll warn you.
the kanji were chosen by taking the 2 most common − jlpt and joyo, combingn them and then throwing aout all the bullshit ones that sound like a crossword puzzle clue such as like ’deep see lifeform’ and ’17th century sulphur refining component.’
ILL PAIR: this is an example of japanese kanjis where - as if 1,000 synonyms aren't bad enough - they seem to have changed the APPEARANCES as well, so the kanjis look as similar as the meanings are.
LAZY ; same on as kun - actually it's easier to just hit the word with a (KUNKUN) waring.
BOOBOO; usually mistranslated by textbooks.
(NUBI) - never used by itself
SARC;
MAYBE do breakdowns for jukugo − link backs to orig. words, or at least use english keywords.
wo is the default particle for verbs.
sidekick − don’t mean there is only one useful jukugo − sometiems there’s 2 or 3 jukugo that all use the first jukugo, which means they all contain the same word that it’s a sidekick of .
suffixes don’t mean you can use them willy−nilly − they just mean that you’ll see the kanji and know what it means in that kanji.
na keyoshis have na written but you don't always say it. if you for instance just say kirei! and hta's your whole sentance.
FP don't neccesairly mean that the kanji you're studying now is pronounced wrong - it could be the other kanji.
we gotta switch the keywords for excess an surplus!!!!!
we gotta swap out ken lay for kenny.
Dictionaries give you TOO MUCH information: look up ‘reciept,’
and you’ll see:
Uketori 受け取り、ryoushuu,領収、ryoushuushuu,領収証、 juryoushou, 受領書 AND
Juryoushuu 受領証。 But which word do Japanese people actually use when they go
to the store? None! They sayレシット (RISHI-TO)!!
かな: some kanjis are kanjis in oslo mode but kana when in a jukugo. most jukugos kana or not, are case−by−case, but most kanji, if htere kkana in one jukugo theyre kana in all.
also, dupe kanji solos tend to be kana. because even the natives get confused.

特徴: SK
the onyomi is used as a prefix when counting objects, with some exceptions. the kunyomi is used as an integer, rather than a prefix: in other words, if you're doing math, or counting time: hours, months, days of the month (after 10, and except for 20; don't even ask why), you'll be using kunyomi.
also, mostly japanese people use Arabic numerals instead of kanji nowadays. I figured i'd include the kanji numbers anyway because 1) you need'em as radicals, to make more complex, useful kanjis, and 2) the pronunciations of numbers are so fucked and hard, I would be abandoning you like a child in a burning house if i didn't at least try to break it down.
