conquest for death, vitamin x, everybody’s enemy, dammit honey, yuuyake no oka, hardcore fanclub

friday november 6 @ nakano moon step

aaah shit! The Conquest for Death tour rolls on. This time with ANOTHER 9-band marathon show.
This time, though, it was mostly younger bands, bands without a lot of "clout" or "juice" within the main Tokyo scene.
Usually these bands have to "pay dues" for like 9 years before they can get [...]

top 10 non-fiction books I read in 2009

in no particular order:

1) NIXONLAND – Rick Perlstein -  at first I was skeptical – what more could be written about Nixon? Who cares in 2009? But by the end I was like, "give this book to your children because it explains how the world really works."

SHIT THAT MAKES ME PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN

A lot of stuff was invented in the USA,
and a lot of stuff makes me proud to be American,
But I can only think of 10 things that fit BOTH categories:

1) the Simpsons

2) Rap

3) Punk

4) Comic books

5) Stand-up comedy

6) Mad magazine – which ITSELF invented post-modernism, 30 effing years before any egghead academic ever thought about [...]
