re: when the bad guys ride bikes

The comments on this article are just PRECIOUS:

Dear Madam! I was deeply offended that you would point out sometimes bicyclists hit pedestrians.  How dare you attempt to hold us accountable for anything when cars kill SO MANY MORE PEOPLE??? Don't you realize we can't even have this discussion until after every motor vehicle has been wiped off the face of the earth?  Until then,  I will deny that cyclists ever do anything bad and exhibit no sympathy for people we hit.

Also, I was deeply hurt by your portrayal of cyclists as self-righteous and lacking in self-awareness.

So, uh, people with guns kill more people than people with rocket launchers, so, uh, you shouldn't need a licence to own a rocket launcher…

@sephim: now you’re getting it. See, requiring licenses for cyclists (or even just for those who are caught behaving badly) would be simply too expensive and impractical and just impossible for government to do. Plus that would take valuable resources away from the totally do-able five million miles of bike lanes and bike-only infrastructure that America needs to build. I mean, duh.

unless you’re 10 years older than me, your generation didn’t invent skating. Also aside from establishing that you don’t know how to mock people, what was your point?

To be fair, I shouldn't be listening to my music when jogging on the seaside trail; I have to have my ears open for Lance Armstrong ringing his bell.
