THE LEBOWSKI CONNECTION (man)
You may have noticed a ubiquitous 'The Big Lebowski' referencing and sampling process throughout this album.
Believe us, this was entirely intentional. Sure it was.
This is perhaps the only film to successfully grapple with such deep, philosophical
issues such as: what is really appropriate to do on a rug, the preferred nomenclature,
the tenets of national socialism versus nihilism, whether or not Donny is in
his element.
Besides dealing with these issues, the film answers such timeless questions as, "Whaddaya need that for, dude?" "Hasn't that ever occurred to you, man? Sir??", "Every time a rug is micturated upon in this fair city, I have to compensate the person?" and the gloriously ineffable "I mean, this could be a lot more, ah , ah, ah complex, I mean, it might not be, just a simple, eugh, ah, uh. . . you know?"
The movie's use of complex, subversive, and absurd ideas dovetailed nicely with the kind of music we had set out to do.
So when we were looking for a theme to, you know, TIE THE WHOLE ALBUM TOGETHER, MAN, t.b.l. seemed natural.
